IN Hide Out

Catrinel is a choreographer, dance teacher and a physiotherapist in training. She runs dance courses and workshops for children and adults, deeply understanding the importance of movement and play in their life. A graduate of “National University of Theatre and Film I.L. Caragiale” – Choreography Department, she holds an Master Degree in choreography and is currently studying Physical Therapy and Special Motricity at the University of Physical Education and Sports in Bucharest.

Since 2007 she has participated in national and international contemporary dance workshops and performances. As a choreographer she created: ,,Marți”/“Tuesday”, ,,Șase personaje în căutarea unei identități”/“Six characters in search of an identity”, “InOut” (https://vimeo.com/39484264), ,,Corp Bazar” (https://vimeo.com/48059858) in which she collaborated with Andreea Belu and Timea Kovacs; “InHideOut”, performance produced by 4Culture, presented in eXplore Dance Festival, Forte Marghera-Venezia and National Library of Romania; and the installation art performance ,,Te pup MSUV”/I kiss you MSUV” (https://vimeo.com/149429297), the result of a collaboration with the performer Alessio Cavallucci and musician Christian Mastroianni in the contemporary art museum of Novi Sad, Serbia.

She likes to explore the merge of the traditional with the contemporary and created the performance “Marriage specific dances from Conțești: modern and traditional interpretations” at the initiative of the Education and Training Centre “Sintagma”.

As a performer, she participated in workshops run by Romanian and international choreographers such as Vava Ștefănescu, Florin Fieroiu, Cosmin Manolescu, Jennifer Lacey, Hanna Hegenscheidt. She collaborated with Andreea Novac, Mikos Konstantin in the show ,,Harta”/“The Map”, Sydney Leoni in “Undertone”, Cosmin Manolescu in ,,16 Ianuarie”/“January 16”, “Me and myself – Camera 1306” (https://vimeo.com/56700695), ,,Egal” (https://vimeo.com/99557852) and in the urban exploration workshop.

She is interested in developing a multidisciplinary approach to dance and in art therapy. She has recently teamed up with psychotherapists (Ovidiu Telegescu, Ioana Stratan) to come up with body development techniques for people with special needs; thus she created a choreographic piece “Ability and Sensibility” with people with disabilities from ,,Fundația Mâna de Lucru” which was presented at the “Gala for Persons with Disabilities 2014”, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuUpnf-0tcQ, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j_1R3Fht2A.
