Attila Bordás is a leading young dance professional and creative force in the fields of dance in Romania as a choreographer and dancer. In the same time, he also activates as much as well in the theatre-directing and acting professional cultural field. Poet periodically and Dj-ing as a hobby on cultural & underground party events. He’s organizer of one of the biggest contemporary dance camp in Romania.
His dance career began in Sepsiszentgyörgy, in the Dance Department of the Plugor Sándor Art High School, when he was in the fifth grade. He focused on Hungarian folk dance and ballet. He studied ballet with Gizella Benkő and Gabriel Prune and developed his various folk dance technique with László Ivácson, Gizella Ivácson, István Kiss, Endre Virág and Călin Orza. Besides dancing, he was a leading member of the Osonó Theatre / independent theatre company, where he developed his theatrical, pedagogical and stagecraft skills.
In 2005 he performed as a dancer with the Háromszék Folk Ensemble, and from 2010 he is member as a guest artist, dancer and choreographer for the Ensemble. Alongside his formal studies, he explored contact improvisation dance technique and breakdance, before finally felt in love with contemporary dance, thanks to a course held by Adrien Hód, a Hungarian leader choreographer.
From 2006 until 2009 he studied choreography at the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest, and achieved a Master’s Degree in Directing at the University of Arts Târgu-Mureș in 2012.
Attila Bordás believes in the variety and combination of stage arts, having created and directed theatre, dance theatre and physical theatre, sometimes performing in the works himself. At a very young age, he began teaching dance and theatre, working mostly in Romania, but also running courses and workshops in Hungary. More recently, he is contributed to musicals, operas and open-air performances also.
As a choreographer he has collaborated with well-known directors like Silviu Purcărete, Péter Novák, Vlad Masacci, Dragoș Galgoțiu, Ștefan Iordanescu, Theodor-Cristian Popescu, Cristi Juncu, Sorin Militaru, Miklós Bács, Misi Fazakas and himself many others. As a performer, he has worked with Ferenc Novák, Péter Novák, Gigi Căciuleanu, Tony Gatlif, David Zinder, Vava Ștefănescu, Arcadie Rusu, Sergiu Anghel, Árpád Könczei, Călin Orza, Ivacson László – to name just a few.
Attila Bordás’s style is both experimental and authentic. He has dedicated himself to a life of constant exploration of those universal tools that are attached to any form of stage art.
